Damn.....
How is education supposed to make me feel smarter? Besides, every time I learn something new, it pushes some old stuff out of my brain. Remember when I took that home winemaking course, and I forgot how to drive?
Leigh Miners produced a strong second half performance to move two points clear at the top of the NCL table coming from 20-10 down at half time to win the game 26-20. It was the home side who opened the scoring after about 12 minutes when second row Tom Bradbury scored out on the left to give miners a 4-0 lead. Siddal hit back straight away with a try under the posts and from that try Siddal took control for the next 20 minutes scoring three further well worked tries to put them in command of the game at 20-4. Miners hit back in the final few minutes of the half when Darryl Kay dropped onto Scott O’Brien grubber kick to score at the side of the posts, Tom Bradbury converting giving the visitors a 20-10 half time advantage.
It was Miners who come out from the sheds the stronger and with some good go forward they got themselves within four points when full back Jonny Youds reached over to score, Bradbury converting to bring the score to 20-16. Miners drew level from the next set when Jimmy Muir scored out on the right hand side to tie the game up at 20-20. With the home side having a roll on they got themselves back in front when u18s centre Andrew Hodson broke down the left to put scrum half Ryan Smith in under the posts, Bradbury converting to give miners a 26-20 lead. As the game went on Siddal pressed hard to get back level but the strong home defence held firm to keep them out to win the match 26-20.
Next week Miners are away to Saddleworth Rangers.
Leigh Miners 2nd team lost 16-6 away at Albert Park.
