The fixture format at the moment is a joke, however our early demise in both cup competitions didn't help. The RFL really need to look at the amount of games we play and the frequency of home games. Oh for home,away,home,away.....

The problem is allowing spaces for the cup games should clubs progress to a reasonable stage. Remember the fixture backlog we had in 2008 when we got to the NRC final? Or when we got to the Challenge Cup quarters a few years before that?

With an expanded league programme with combination of the two CC leagues, the NRC could be moved to a pre season competition enabling us to have a more settled fixture programme for the regular league season

Or got rid of altogether.
Any cup competition involving leagues is always pants and tailor made for better clubs ... the rest are just fodder. Now a proper knock-out that would be more interesting, albeit short lived.
It's all about dosh though........

I wouldn't have thought there's many people making money from the NRC!

If the divisions are merged might as well get rid, or simplify to straight knock out, and have more league games

Sounds like a good idea, we should be running the RFL, but then again maybe not as good ideas would get us nowhere!

There aren't .. but the whole idea of the leagues is driven by dosh, in that each club get at least half a dozen games, three at home, where in theory they can make some dosh rather than being knocked out straight away... except nobody is that interested, and by the time players are paid, it's a loss maker.

To be fair we were pretty interested in the Rail Cup in 2008.

Yes, But it wasn't the main business in hand and i don't think it ever will be. A longer league season would be the better option i think.

Although it did almost cost us promotion with the horrific backlog it caused
