Will get a better look at the challenge when I watch the highlights show later tonight, but it looked like Messi just went over his leg. Having said that, Messi's ankle was a nasty size and not a nice colour within seconds.
Having seen it again I can understand why the ref sent him off. More bad timing and laziness than intent I think but I can see why he got a straight red. Messi has done his ankle ligaments and is out for up to a month.

A question for Liverpool fans, what does Maxi offer you? I am at a loss. He isn't cover for the full back, he isn't tricky and creative, he doesn't support the striker(s), he doesn't support in midfield. I am at a loss to see what he is doing at the club, let alone starting.

I thought we got him free in a sponsorship deal with Maxxi`s tyres?

I haven't even said anything yet! I've said my piece about Everton a few pages back and that's how I see it. Anyone wanting Moyes' sacked is talking out of their hole imo. I'm not bitter about City's money in the slightest. Oh and congratulations on beating Wigan, that must've been tough, good luck against Chelsea, you'll need it.

Oh, but you are.

Thanks, mate. Really appreciate it. I thought we did quite well as we are still missing a third of our strongest XI, and Adam Johnson was rested, not forgetting that we played three days earlier in Austria.
Good news for you. Rochdale will be updating facilities for away fans in readiness for the 2011/12 season.

How do my posts lack intelligence? because my opinion isn't the same as yours?

You believe that, then. I wonder where your high horse has come from tbh, you're not the first club to have money. United, Arsenal, Spurs, Villa etc have all had more money than us down the years. Of course I wish we had more but we don't.

I concur. Liverpool "forum" fans laud him as the second coming but I'd be surprised if he has more than 1 or 2 assists to his name the whole time he has been at the club. Yesterday i'd advocate him starting as Babel was our only other option and he doesn't track back enough. Once Kuyt comes back, Maxi won't get a sniff really.
Disappointing that we only got going after 60 minutes yesterdaty because United looked scared $hitless when we had a do at them for 20 minutes or so. Impressed with Poulsen although him and Gerrard sat far too deep for my liking. When Gerrard pushed forward more we were a completely different team.
As much as it hurts to lose to United the reality is that I'd have taken being 3 points behind City and Spurs at this stage of the season and with 3 of our next 4 games at home to Blackpool, Blackburn and Sunderland I can see us steadily climibing the table.
Oh, and Berbatov's hat trick was stunning. And Nani is an utter disgrace to football the way he behaves. looks like he's managed to emulate his mate Ronaldo.....bar the football skill.
