Are 10x off loads in your own half that put you back ten yards better than 1 off load that sets up a try?
42 missed tackles on players running laterally are ok, 2 missed tackles on the fish as he scooted down the middle to score are worse.
Only one stat counts and thats the final score.
Indeed.
Proof beyond all question that the OPTA stats mean jackshit when used in isolation.

how can you possibly miss that many tackles and win???
Martin Sadler reckons the stats should point to a Hull win, as they made more yards, did less tackling, made more breaks, more off loads, but he goes on to say how we won because of individual performances, Shaun Briscoes/Ben Cockaynes try saving tackles over our line, Dobsons better kicking game, Murrells input.
I cant believe we missed that many tackles so lets have the stats if anyone has them
You took your chances and we never, it's that simple really.

This board was awash with Hull fans telling us we finished 6th last year. Rugby League World's preview for this season had us down as 6th last year and invariably has the Grand Final winners down as first, even if they didn't win the hubcap. The latter is fair enough, as they are champions and then I guess you need consistency after that. The Rothmans will always show you finished in 6th place, just as we finished 4th last year. We reached the top 4 in the league, but not the last 4 in the competition. This year you finished higher in the league, but we went further in the competition. What I think is especially daft about the official system is that other teams performances can change your position - Hudds losing to Catalans cost us '5th' in 2009. The only place I've seen a 'final league placings table', ie after the play-offs is on Wikipedia - and you'll notice it is wrong (Wakefield in 4th). Stats can be informative for things like style of play (Rovers have an aversion to offloads for example) and unbiassed analysis, but can be easily abused to support a particular argument. Some things you can see, but can't put a value on - you can count tackles, but not their ferocity or dominance. Making an interception and sprinting 49 metres before being forced in to touch is not 98% as good as going 50 metres to score a try.

Add to this a shoulder charge ala Murrell on Fitzgibbon is actually classed as a missed tackle, he may then go on to complete the tackle and count as one.

Whose the new soapy lady in your little picture and what is her relevance. I like to know these things.
I'd like to have a nice goosey self portrait as my little picture but I'm too stupid to know how to do it.
If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.
