The RFL have halved the ridiculous £40,000 fine they imposed on Castleford, following the so called homophobic chants against a Crusaders player!
I still think the fine is a joke and that it should be fully rescinded, as I don't think Cas were guilty of anything. I was sat in the stand at the game and heard nothing other than the respect CD being played, I wouldn't accept the verdict and would work to get the Castleford clubs tarnished reputation cleared.
I think the whole incident was blown out of all proportion, especially with events that have taken place since, when it seems it's ok for spectators to run on the field and attack players and yes even coaches to attack refs, or supporters of so called "more glamourous" clubs chanting foul and abusive and hurtful language at players.

Sorry but that did make me chuckle.
FWIW I think the fine is massively harsh and also doubted it would be reduced as the RFL tried to hearald it as some massive anti homophobic triumph, especially by involving Thomas, his manager and the anti gay charity. I take it Cas are just going to pay this one? Prob best just to get the issue behind the club really and move forward from all sides

As you say, Cas are going to pay it, but I really wish they would stand up to the RFL on this one, I'm sure any court of law would laugh at the judgemnet, its like trying to crack a nut with a sledge hammer.
I just wonder now they've created a precedent, what the RFL will do now about the other chanting heard live on TV by Leeds fans, to name just one set of supporters?
I guess it will still be nothing, unless Cas or one of the other so called less glamourous clubs is involved.

Did the homophobic chanting happen? Yes, club have admitted such and were appealing against the size of the fine not the actual findings. I would suggest the fine was halved as Cas have since shown they have taken action.

Off to Chester races thank you, before watching a COMPETETIVE rugby game on sky, where the stands will actually be full of fans, not just 4,000 fans and 18,000 empty seats.

Yes the club did admit it happened, but I believe they bottled out, because it wasn't their fault (if you call chanting half a dozen kids who couldn't be heard by the majority of those at the game, including the guy from the RFL sat in the stand), even then when the club was made aware of this at the game (it must have been by stewards near to the kids, because as I say, sat in the stand we couldn't hear it), the club played the respect CD to drowned out anything that was or could have been of an offensive nature, don't know what more could have been done and especially why the club should have to fork out such a large amount for something they had very little chance of controlling any more than they did.
As I say, this was blown out of all proportion by the guy who was the alleged subject of these stupid kids taunts, I have no idea how he could have even heard it, let alone how he would fear for his safety, it will probably sell him a few books.
I thought when he first came out, it was a brave decision to make, but I've since grown to despise him for what he has done and realise it was an act of a man at the back end of his rugby career setting his stall out to make a few quid.

How is your ground coming along I bet you would give your eye teeth for a ground that had 18,000 places in it.
