We had to win to keep in touch with Wigan at the top of the table. When we went 6-0 down, we thought here we go again... but instead, was one of the most complete performances by a Saints team. Abiding memory was Sonny Nickle racing towards the corner (bungalow/pop) for a brilliant try.
For the younger fans who were not around in this saints era, this is in "The Final Match" programme as one of the greatest games.
The "Coor" jersey caught the fans by suprise because we didn,t know what it was all about. It was more of a suprise how the players played in this kit and the performance seen by all. For Wigoons it was a nightmare, Offiah injured, Sean Edwards spitting his dummy out, Skerret sent off in the 2nd half and the "Wigan Walk" beginning with about 15 mins to go.
George Mann + Sonny Nickle being the "demolition men" in the absence of Kevin Ward.
