Liam Paisley of Dowdales.

After scoring a hat trick he raced away to score his fourth but as he was under the posts, he turned round, waited for one of his team mates and passed for him to score. That lad can now say he scored at Wembley and nothing can taken that away from him.

Great act of sportsmanship from one so young--wel done Liam.

Perhaps he had a huge bet on himself to score 3, not 4. Didn't think of that in your tree hugging utopia did you?

That kind of action is generally seen as disrespectful to the opposition rather than good sportsmanship. Many times such "tries" are disallowed at junior level on some pretext or other to deter such acts creeping into the game.

It was the last action of the game and was rightly applauded by the Wembley crowd.

It depends how it's done! In this case their is clearly a lot of sentiment in it!

If it was say a SL game then may be a different matter yes.

the kid is obviously a good player, and the teams go to player. He'd already scored 3, and saw an opportunity to give his mate a memory to remember. Didn't affect the game in any way.
Good for him.

When refereeing juniors I have disallowed such a try (for a forward pass as I recall) I was supported by both coaches; who then explained to parents why I was doing the right thing.
It's important to the vanquished that the "good" player who did the damage respected them sufficiently to go on and complete the breakthrough.
"Taking the mickey", as such things are generally called, leads to a lot of fights......
Needless to say I wouldn't have applauded.
