deliberate forward passes should be penalised against
if you dont pack down at a scrum properley then penalty the other way
and like in the NRL.......whoever packs down in the scrum to stop the clock should have to stay put not break away

Pablo-13 wrote:That isn't the correct way to judge a forward pass. If the ball carrier is running forwards at 15mph then it means the ball is moving at that speed also. When the pass is made, the ball still has forward momentum, even when the pass is perfectly flat in relation to the passer.

It also looks more forward when the passer stops after releasing the ball, whilst ball and catcher are still going in forward momentum.

As an example Player with ball and support player doing 15 m.p.h throws out a flat pass and immediatly after releasing the ball slows down to 5 m.p.h, ball and support player still doing 15 m.ph. after a second, ball momentum loses a little momentum but the ball has travelled between 3 and 4 metres depending on strength of pass.

The new young dynasty of super saints is coming to a ground near you.

The ref let the game go as much as he could. I thought the Leeds try was exceptionally forward but Wire had an NFL type try aided from the bum.

I had a bloke sat next to me that must have said 'that was bloody forward' 50 times in each half.

I wish I was exaggerating.........I really do.

Fat blokes in the mud, flat caps, bogs that drain pi55 directly onto your boots - Now it's all 'Big Ask', 'Arm Wrestle', 'Collision' 'Contact' 'Facials' 'Upper Body Strength' 'Big Units' 'Scooting from Dummy Half' 'Energy Levels' 'Laying the Platform' ‘Middles’ and 'T-R-Y'. Let’s not forget resilience.

Then quite simply the rules have changed , to what they were a few years ago , as for a RU video , since when have RU been bothered about forward passes , it s been part of their game for decades

SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!

No, you just don't understand the rules. The laws of physics haven't changed in the last few years.

Try watching the RU video, it may be RU but the principal is EXACTLY the same. Actually, I don't expect you to watch it, but here it is if you're man enough to put your hand up and admit you didn't understand (like most of Knowsley Road).

Just watched , all forward passes , the last ones the type Leeds do most of the time , just out of interest what is stevo s momentum rule ?

Hmmm. I'm 95% sure you're trolling, because no-one could be so stupid unless on a wind up, but nevertheless I'll bite.

Stevo's 'momentum rule' is simply referring to the phrase in the RFL Laws stating that the thrower's MOMENTUM means the ball can travel forward relative to the ground, but still travel backwards in relation to himself. It's all about momentum.

Try running forwards at full pelt and passing the ball backwards in relation to the point the ball leaves your hands. You'd literally have to hurl it behind you.

I posted it before, but try reading this again:
RFL Laws of the Game wrote:The direction of a pass is relative to the player making it and not to the actual path relative to the ground. A player running towards his opponents’ goal line may throw the ball towards a colleague who is behind him but because of the thrower’s own momentum the ball travels forward relative to the ground. This is not a forward pass as the thrower has not passed the ball forward in relation to himself. This is particularly noticeable when a running player makes a high, lobbed pass.

I don't dispute there were indeed a load of genuine forward passes on Saturday, but that doesn't detract from stubborn idiots who refuse to understand the forward pass laws.

No idea about yesterday , didn't watch it , as for the rule , ok ,if that is what it is fine , I always understood it to mean relative to the ground , having it relative to the thrower just leaves it wide open to abuse , no wonder nobody likes refs
