Beer isnt the problem, drinking is the problem. Idiotism is. so lets not start banning booze, lets start banning idiots.
In this case there was an issue in one small part of the ground, the rest of the day I am sure went brilliantly for everyone (that doesnt make up for those that had their day spoiled) - same as it does at the Magic Weekends.
This.
Anyone who travelled to see Leeds in Perpignan a few years ago will probably be aware of a small band of idiots who managed to spoil a very well run BBQ event with their moronic behaviour. They didn't act like prats because they have been drinking (plenty of us had been drinking), they acted like prats because they were prats.
There were 85,000 people at Wembley yesterday, many of them who will have been on the ale at some point during the day, and very few problems. The only time I saw a police officer all day was walking back along Olympic Way to Wembley Park station (compare that with Leeds United's trip a few years ago).
Unfortunately, we will always have idiots walk among us. When you have a stadium that is largely staffed by disinterested teenagers working for a security agency for £5.50 an hour, you are going to have these incidents occur.
