A risky signing by Newcastle; most teams that come up sign 'safe' players to keep them up, then try and build from that.

For a player so talented, you have to wonder why clubs like Lyon and Marseille were so quick to get rid - they're no mugs in the market. But, if Newcastle can keep his feet firmly on the ground, he could be a player to make the difference regularly, but, it is dangerous if they become dependent on him, it could be mightily risky.

But, other than that, good signs for the club, they can obviously attract players from clubs bigger than them, which should raise the hopes of supporters.
