I completely disagree, firstly it's not harsh. It is typical Walton, he's a very poor referee and with any nouse about him he would've have clearly seen it was accidental and not a penalty.

Secondly, handball is the one thing penalties are hardly given for these days. The rule has become so complicated ref's tend not to give it to be on the safe side. Take Alex last night, blocked a cross with his hand, his arm was up in the air and probably should've been given as him hand was in an un natural position but it wasn't. You'll see more penalty shouts turned away for handball than given.

I think you've missed my point. A handball as clear as that will inevitably be given no matter what. Duff was in yards of space and it clearly hit his hand. Yes it was accidental but that penalty will be given no matter who the teams involved are or the referee

Alex dived in to block the Wigan player from crossing or shooting. He was a few feet away from the Wigan player. Alex was successful in blocking the cross/shot. The ball ricocheted up from Alex's leg and hit his arm.

You're always at risk of a penalty if there's contact with the hand/arm in the area. But that should have never been given and was rightly waved away.
