My memory isn't that great (but I've got a feeling that was taken out of context).

However, rather than have it dug up again I'm going to be magnanimous and concede that I really was very silly in suggesting you didn't enjoy a major final.

OK? :)

It really wasn't out of context. I loved that day out, much better losing at Wembley (maybe it's the familiarity) than at Old Trafford. I'd like FC to win the grand final one day, but the cup final as an occasion is much better IMO. With or without toads.

Fibreglass toad row

Fibreglass toads are coming to town.
A ROW has erupted over plans to spend £200,000 worth of taxpayers' money on 100 fibre-glass toads in Hull.

The model toads will be placed around the city later this summer as part of a festival marking the 25th anniversary of the death of poet Philip Larkin.

Most of the funding for the £290,000 toad project is being met by Hull City Council with a one-off £200,000 grant.

For the same money the local authority could afford to repair 3,500 potholes.

The way i understand it is that the council was going to pay, however in the 11th hour they pulled there funding and a private investor stepped in to pay

well not to burst your bubble but can you tell me how many stadiums are already in hull?
now do think long and hard on this one
i know of 3 at the very least at this present moment in time... how many can you come up with.

There is one. The KC STADIUM. I also know of a Craven PARK.

If you want to include Costello I will admit Hull can cope with 1 proper stadium and one dump but three is not needed.

The fact is Rovers need to fund their own expansion not the people of Hull.

I am glad my Council Tax goes towards nice flowers in Hornsea and an excellent bench in Hedon which I like to sit on and have a sly smoke when my missus thinks I am out walking the dog. That is what public money is for, not for a private business.

End of story (unless you are a little slow on the uptake of the facts regarding how the KC Stadium came about).

Millions, if not billions of public money is spent every year in the UK on private businesses by both local and national government. This is hardly a new phenomenon.

Very one sided.

Hull FC have paid for their own expansion. Not one penny of Taxpayers money has gone into Hull FC via the KC Stadium. Hull pay for the use of the facility. FACT and Rovers rejected the same offer.

FWIW I think the council should invest in Craven Park. But the WHOLE Stadium should be for public and community use and a committee similar to the SMC should be set up to run the facility.

Motto of the week -

It is the way of the weak to secretly bleat to those in authority rather than fight their own battles.

did hull fc pay for their own expansion in 1999?

of course money goes into hull fc from taxpayers via the kc....... and it generates profits.... its called gate receipts or had you forgot about this.
sp please dont give me the "Not one penny of Taxpayers money has gone into Hull FC via the KC Stadium."

Public money being wasted on private companies, I don't know. Shall we turn a blind eye on the 750k that was spent on the Boulevard for the council to buy the ground, which was the amount to a penny that Hull Fc had debts of before the merger. The self same Boulevard that has sat for years serving very little purpose before being sold for a loss to someone trying to turn it in to a dog track, before someone had the bright idea of, tell you what, lets knock it down.

All the clubs in this city have had help from the local authority and it appears it's now Rovers turn again on the 'circle of life' of handouts.

DANNY LOCKWOOD - LEAGUE WEEKLY (18-5-09)

I'M SURE THERE IS NO CORRELATION BETWEEN THE FACT THAT THE FRONT RUNNERS FOR THE 2009 MEDIA WHINGING AWARD ARE FROM GATESHEAD AND HULL FC, FORMERLY THE B*ST*RD-TWINS OF ONE OF RUGBY LEAGUE'S LOUSIER IDEAS.
