well it was a good day apart from the final we gave away too many penalties, 6 in 18 mins is just too many. But it was great to see mitch ru nning the ball up with his face painted as batman it was hilarious . even though we lost we had a great day out as we were sat for most of the games with the lads as i said in my post on toulouse this would never happen in football(soccer). as for the nrc it was great to see batley beat widnes the result was in the balance right up to the end ,it was the best final yet hopefully we can get there next year but i hope not as the sat is a great day out.

What a great weekend. We got there Friday afternoon, and after settling into our hotel we found a great pub on Lytham Road (The Excelsior), about 5 mins walk from the hotel and watched the Wigan v Warrington game over a few pints of John Smiths Smooth (£1-65 a pint - a bit cheaper than the Melting Pot in Toulouse the previous weekend). Then an early start on Saturday up to Fylde RFC for the 10 am start of the 9s. After the Eagles first two games (which were won handsomely) the boys came to sit with us and watch some of the other games during the two hour wait for game 3. Plenty of photo opportunities followed (which may find their way onto Facebook unless the appropriate fee is paid into my bank account by Friday.
Then after the dissappointment of losing to Halfax in the final, we consoled ourselves with ham, egg and chips, and a couple of pints of Titanic in the Auctioneer (Wetherspoons) back on Lytham Road. On Sunday morning we went up to Fleetwood Freeport for a couple of hours, then made our way back to Bloomfield Road for the NRC Final. What a result for Batley. I felt really sorry for Widnes
Ran into ex Eagle Neil Kellett at the match. It's unusual to see such a big man cry (sorry Neil) but it was great to run into him and have a chat, what a weekend.

As a Leigh fan i was very confused with the outcome of the semis, we won all our games to,thats rugby though,had a great week -end ,saw you Seagulls mixing with your players and Tubby Aston for photos, thought you played well,see you all at Bramall Lane in a couple of weeks.

You lost out by a couple of points of points difference. Personally, I didn't think the format worked - two clubs out having won all their group games just doesn't seem right. The problem was that three games weren't enough to produce clear cut semifinalists.

Ideally there should've been quarter finals then you could've had all 6 teams who won all their games plus the next best two. However, hindsight is a wonderful thing.
