Highs: I'm struggling.....maybe the good run at the end of last season?

Lows: That playoff collapse against Wigan.

Two home games for me:-
High ~ The second half earlier this year against Wigan
Lows ~ The first loss of any SL side to Crusaders in May 2009

Highs? The first part of the 2007 season was pretty good. Occasional wins over the past few years away at Saints, Leeds and this year's home win over Wigan were highspots.

Lows? That home hammering against Warrington last year was a watershed moment for me. There have been plenty of other awful performances and many where we just failed to play to our potential but that performance at home to Wire was so inept it was unbelievable.

Highs - second half v wigan this season, our play off run in 2006 (it surprised everyone for us to get so close)

Lows - the many games we should have won but collapsed, (Catalans in Cup, Wigan in Playoffs, etc)


I liked Macca, and believed he had the clubs interestes at heart, but it isn't fair to compare him to previous coaches when the resources available to him where in no way even. Compare his results with the likes of Matterson, Kear, etc who have similar resources.

High: Leeds 14-38 Bradford 2007, Bradford 26-12 Wigan 2008, St Helens 30-34 Bradford 2009, Bradford 22-20 Wigan 2010.

Low: Far too many to list but I'll stick with the game last week.

It will be very interesting to see how Mick Potter does in the following two seasons, and assuming he has the same levels of funds available as SM did (I see no way for this to change any time soon), it should give us a direct comparison to make with Steve's successes and failings.

If we don't really see any change in results/league standings, all those who laid the blame solely at SM's door for recent performances might need to rethink a few things.

Beating Hudds in the QF in 2007 was probably the pinnacle, maybe matched by stuffing Hull KR this year. On each occasion, silverware looked a possibility.

Have to agree with Sam that the Wire stuffing was a real low. Catalans winning at Saints was another one as that derailed what would have been an epic night to be a Bulls fan otherwise.

Just on pitch 1st team stuff;

High - Saints away 2009 30-34. The OED definition of why you follow a team any given week because "this week might be our week" Shame only a handful of us made it over (understandable though given it was the week after the wire no show).

Low - well.... The wigan playoff defeat still tops an impressive list just because that farce ended our season rather than just 2 points lost.


Thinking about this, that period in the spring of 2009 summed up Mcnamaras time on pitch for me;

Round7 - Lose to Castleford away by 2 points conceding 3 tries in 8 min at the end.
Next week CC - Embarassing cup exit throwing away another lead live on national telly.
Round 8 - Heroic effort to beat Leeds at home 10-6, unbelivable atmosphere.
Round 10 - Complete and utter shambles, conceding 58 at home to wire. Truely awful and a close 2nd for the worst moment of McNamaras reign.
Round 11 - Following all that we then go to Saints and win 34-30... crazy.
Round 13 - first team to lose at home to Celtic in front of just 7500 fans.

Plus a win and loss to Wakey in rounds 9 and 12.

All that in the space of about 6 weeks in one season, crazy, entertaining for the neutral, and bl@@dy frustrating. Because we came out of this period with just 6 points and a cup exit, when it really could have been 10 points (securing a playoff spot we now know) and progressing in the cup.
