So who will be the minimum 8 home grown players for 2011 then, i.e. a player still under 21 and / or has completed 3 years service with the same clubs academy set up?

From current first team squad, Liam Watts and Scott Taylor definitely.
Surely Louis Sherriff, Jordan Cox and Kristian Bell will all get first team contracts.
The remaining two will come from James Green, Dominic Dee, Dave Peterson, Joe Gay, Sam Latus, Liam Salter and Aaron Ollett.
Whatever happens, I would expect the club to release I'Anson, Spaven, Mariano, Jack Latus and probably Richie Beaumont.

Not signing 10 then like Castleford and Wakefield just have? The aspiration has got to be Harlequins and play 16 non quota / mainly english players and beat Bradford with them!

You better go and have a word on the Wigan forum who are on the verge of announcing FOUR new aussie signings in the next week.
This a club who have had Super League money since day one. On that score, Rovers are doing a decent job in only their fourth year.

I'M SURE THERE IS NO CORRELATION BETWEEN THE FACT THAT THE FRONT RUNNERS FOR THE 2009 MEDIA WHINGING AWARD ARE FROM GATESHEAD AND HULL FC, FORMERLY THE B*ST*RD-TWINS OF ONE OF RUGBY LEAGUE'S LOUSIER IDEAS.

You asked for a minimum of 8 names then moan when you are given them! I would like to see Salter, Ollett, Joe Gay and Callum Taylor given full-time deals next season but at this stage they will not be in the first 25 names listed in the first team squad.

If that is the case, what does that say about the state of coaching and scouting for the 18s and 20s? The whole idea of the 3 year franchise was, amongst other things, to allow clubs to develop THEIR OWN YOUNGSTERS, (not others). If you are a good local player aged 15/16 and get offers from KR, Castleford, Wakefield etc. what are you going to think, "if I go for KR, I might get near the 1st team squad, that is until they see a another 'super league' ready player somewhere else!" I think previous blogs about making the numbers up for the 8 home grown player rules is spot on for Frankie Mariano etc. Short term wins are fine. but JM and his coaching staff won't be here in 5 years time. Other clubs seem to be always announcing 3,4 or 5 17 or 18 year olds signing for the 1st team squad and training full time each year, when did that last happen? KR in danger of being a feeder club for the likes of Wigan, just as Hull are for Leeds. The next franchise app will look at how good the recruitment has been over the last 3 years, and, having to 'hire in' other academy players can't be good.
i wonder why Hull brought Jodie Broughton in on loan a couple of times then ???
