Awesome performance and awesome win, had to play most of the second half with 12 men due to an incredibly harsh sending off by Mr Leahy of Menzie Yere, I've never seen someone get a reception like that after receiving their marching orders he deserved it though
Leahy was a joke from start to finish for both sides, all we ask for is consistency and he never gives it, he needs demoting or promoting to Super League, at least that way we won't have him.
Am I right in thinking that if the club appeal against Menzie's red card he will have to face a judiciary not this week but the week after, meaning he will be eligible to play against Toulouse? We could really do with the big guy down in the South of France cos it's going to be a really tough game. Mitchell Stringer also went off looking in quite a bad way, anyone know the latest on him?
The next time we watch the Eagles we will be on a different time zone, not long now folks

A great result under pressure and a strong attacking performance to boot. Defensively also excellent. Taluapapa the standout player at Batley again. Probably our best team performance in a long time and needed at a crucial point in our season. Apart from a couple of early posession losses at the start of the second half the performance was controlled at our pace and the decision making was spot on. Well done to all!
What was IMO an excellent game of rugby league was once again totally ruined as a spectacle by yet another inept refereeing display. The man has absolutely no control over the game from minute one. Quite how there was not an all-in brawl i will never know. The mans pedanticness and inconsistent decision making is causing frustration amongst players which will spill over. Menzies sending off was rather harsh (no intent)and i counted more than a dozen mysifying decisions given against both teams. The RFL are doing a fine job of dcestroying the game at this level on their own without the footsoldiers help. The sooner Leahy is promoted to $uper £eague and out of our lives the better.
yere should have been given a sin binning as it was a very dangerous tackle, clearly dropping Lindsay on his head/neck. I am never sure about applauding him off though, he had committed a bad foul. Agree though about the ref, and several times he appeared to be making it up as he went along. We were on the brink of an all out brawl several times. I thought you were gutsy and stuck in well, and at the end of the day we did not deserve to win as we were poor, but I think being held up over the line four times, and having two tries disallowed for forward passes shows that not all the second half was played at your pace.
We didn't applaud Menzie off for the tackle, just his outstandng efforts in the game. A sin binning would have been sufficient, like I said, I don't believe there was intent, more clumsy than anything else. Menzie is Menzie and at times these things happen. Batley had enthusiasm but when Leahy is the ref your always p!$$!ng against a tornado.
Forgot we were actually playing til half-time,Thats what no promtoin and relegation does for you Couldn believe it when i saw we were 18-0 up,Imediatly thought we must be going down the hill,Well done boys,Also everybody who's going to Tolouse have a goodtime its ace,If its half as good as last time you'll have a blast!!!Hope my Dad doesnt get dropkicked in the square this time

Absolutely not but our defence was outstanding.

Our defence was outstanding, and it was said even Karl Harrison didn't even understand why Yere was sent off! We were the better side and fully deserved the win, some of the ref's decisions were just mind boggling. I thought we'd be lucky to draw in the second half, what with the wind and up hill. It's amazing we won when you think it was all that but with only 12 men the majority of the second half. Well done and it was a great attendance by SE supporters, sure we helped the lads hang on in there! I'm drinking to celebrate now, that's y I've had to edit it twice haha
"No seriously, a nutless monkey could do your job!"
The defence was awsome today. Misi was marvellous at fullback. I thought Batley must've been over on a few occasions but the lads held on for a great win. Hope we aren't without Menzie in France next week, we need his all action style of play against Toulouse. Like Dr. Badvibes, I don't think there was any intent in the tackle, Ash Lindsay just bounced off him and fell backwards awkwardly. It's his tackling style that does it, but it's all legal. It merited a sin binning at most. So now it's off to Toulouse next week. It'll be a lot tougher than last year, but if it's as enjoyable it'll be well worth it. I must remember to avoid that dodgy kerb near the railway station this year!!!! COME ON EAGLES.
