That's right Ghana get a CHANCE through the lottery that is a penalty kick to score the goal the would definatly have got if they hand't of been cheated. But lets not forget this is the sport that is petrified to join the 21'st centuary so I wont hold out any hope.
Will we ever see a clearer CERTAIN goal again? Yes, I imagine we will - watch it again, it was going to hit his face, hopefully he'll appeal against the red, he didn't deny a goalscoring opportunity.
The shocking decision was the free-kick Ghana got which set up the whole situation, thankfully justice was done.

The problem with having a 'Penalty Goal' is that many of the handballs on or near the goaline are not as clear cut as tonights, so you would still get as many if not more controversial incidents like tonights. The ruls have been in place for over 100 years and do not need changing. A penalty and Dismissial is the correct and right punishment.

I stuck up for the lad but that's brilliant! He didn't deny a goal scoring opportunity?? Are you his dad?

That's daft. If you're not the goalkeeper you don't use your hands on the goal line, or ever, simple. He won't appeal because he hasn't got a prayer of being successful and is more likely to miss the final if he does so. Besides, the ball was going just to Suarez' right, that's why he used his hands.

Watch it again, it wasn't going in, it was heading straight for his face!
The hand comes out in instinct, nothing more, nothing less, it still won't stop the poor lad being vilified though - yet he is the true victim here, missing a World Cup semi final.
The ball would have hit his head and carried on into that net anyway, and lets be right, he was one step away from catching it and throwing it away, i wouldnt say it was self defence, he could have just ducked down a bit. He did the right thing any day of the week but I don't know what you're getting at to be honest. Self defence? It's a football match with a football not a war.

Wow he must have an invisible second head then. Are you his doctor?
So, of three posters on this thread who have seen the video one thinks the ball was heading straight into the player, one thinks it was going to his right and one thinks it would have hit his head and still gone in.
edit - make that four one with one who thinks it was going right over his head.
I can't wait for video technology to be introduced, it's going to be so much fun.

So a penalty which is about a 70%/30% chance is the same as a 100% chance of a goal is it? And perhaps if the player knew his 'save' was probably going to cost him the rest of the game AND the team who he had commited against would still get the goal anyway he may think 'hmm maybe not'.
