Billinge_Lump wrote:How far do you go back? RL has a nice break in play at the last tackle prior to the goal, football doesn't have that. What if there is a foul 1 minute prior to the goal but the ball has not been out of play since then, do you go back that far? 2 minutes? 30 seconds? What limit do you put on it?

It's not a question of how far back.
It's exactly the same as now....the ref is in charge....the ref makes the decisions except that when a goal is scored....a 5th official points out if there was something majorly wrong.
Or if a goal is not spotted...the ref is told.

You don't go back to fouls that occurred in back play....just has the ref doesn't now....all fouls are for the ref to sort out....but ones in the penalty area were a penalty is given should be looked at and the ref advised. Only because people cheat and dive.

Outside the box it doesn't matter...it can be just as now.

I am not asking for a major revamp and for every little thing to be scrutinised. I just want the ref to be helped to get the big things right, because for one they need help in what is a very difficult task and for two we have the technology to help them get it right.

FIFA object on costs grounds .....but really?

What is wrong with trialing it?
Particularly at a major competition.
If it proves to be more trouble than it's worth....then rethink it or drop it.
But someone saying it won't work...is not really a scientific way of deciding.

War does not determine who is right - only who is left.

Thank God I'm an atheist.

Dead Man Walking wrote:England never dominated more than 5 minutes against Germany. The criticism the players are getting is warranted because they were not interested one bit apart from scoring and after that they disappeared. That is the worst England team I have ever seen. I'd love to know how you reckon England dominated parts of the game ?

As I remember it, the last 10 minutes of the first half and the first 15-20 minutes of the 2nd, England looked far more likely. We just left ourselves hopelessly exposed in the 2nd half, but that was understandable at 3-1 especially. It was a poor performance no doubt, but I'm with Matt23 and mugwump on this one, it wasn't as bad as the hysterical English fans are making out.

Agree.

I dont care what stats show, Barry was rubbish.

He was sloppy giving possession away against Slovenia, and then the German's 3rd goal i think it was, came from Barry not being able to control the ball on the edge of the German box, and them breaking downfield.

He looked off the pace too, not good enough.

We do have more players than some seem to think coming through:

Hart
Delph
Wilshere
Rodwell
Gosling
Richards
Gibbs
Lansbury
Moses
Abongalor (sp)
Ash Young
Danny Rose
Danny Welbeck
Tom Huddlestone
Milner
Rooney

There're probably more aswell. Hopefully more of these players can break into their club sides and eventually get a chance for England. There's some exciting players coming through, particulary in midfield.

We've always got loads of great players bubbling under ready to come through.

The reality is only 4 or 5 of that list will end up being international class.

Maybe. But, its hardly reality if it hasn't happend yet. Who knows, most of those players could become world class. I know we've only just been knocked out and I'm already fully deluded about our chances.

But that is the problem and this is where managers will complain. They will start saying 'the technology is available, why should we accept human error now?', because managers will always moan about every decision, whether it's something that leads to a goal, a second yellow, a straight red or his player being given offside for a good chance. Why should this technology only be available to goals when we can try and get every other decision spot on? Why is human error acceptable for every other big decision, other than goals?

I'm all for technology, but there will be huge problems if mistake after mistake is accepted whilst the technology is available. I mean, look at that Kaka red card the other week, should that just be accepted when we have a ref who can look at a replay and see nothing was wrong? Once the video official is brought in, managers will want it for every decision, because every decision in football can change a game and if the technology is available, why shouldn't they be able to use it?

Not as bad ? They were a disgrace to the shirt they were wearing. The only player who can be excused is David James.

You must be having a laugh the only goal he couldn't be faulted for was the 4th one. How Podolski scored beggers belief and don't even get me started about Mullers first
