Absolute dog $hit defending.

"Golden generation" my ar$e.

Gareth Barry, Ashley Cole and David James are the only players who can hold their head half high after their performances yesterday.

Captain fantastic playing for Stevie FC was woeful.

Gareth Barry ? really?

It's been fun.

Was thinking the very same myself. Seemed to be out of breath from around the 5th minute onwards.

Yes.

He had an impossible task in a pathetic midfield. His passing was much better than anyone else, and he put a big shift in defence.

It was amazing to see Ozil f-cking blitz him for Mullers second. Barry was absolutely nowhere near him.

Zoop - seize ya Gareth.

We all (well anyone with any intelligence) know that we need to change everything now....or we could just stick with the like of Gerrard and Lampard...prob bring Beckham back...stick with Heskey...and then be in deep deep trouble in 4 years time

The issues with English football go well beyond appointing a coach and picking a first XI.

Time to get a proper grassroots structure in place rather than relying on well meaning amateurs and self interested pro clubs to develop junior talent.

Kids below the age of 14 shouldn't be playing 11 a side on full size pitches - ever. Small sided games where the emphasis is on technique rather than how far you can kick it or how fast you can chase help develop technique so sadly lacking in British players these days.

Those who buy into the whole "best league in the world" nonsense need to ask themselves a question. If English football really is that good, why aren't the cream of European clubs queueing up to take Joe Cole on a free transfer? Why is Steven Gerrard still with an underachieving mid-table side rather than ripping it up with Barcelona or Inter Milan?

Sack the players or get some in that will play for their country as that lot yesterday ( except David James ) did nothing at all.

It very possibly is the best league in the world in terms of depth of talent (and in the last 10 years or so Champions League performances). That's not to say it's got a great deal to do with the English players though.
