A goal has been scored. How much time (or distance) can the VR go back to disallow the goal?

This is the point I made before. What happens if the goal is scored from a free kick that shouldn't have been given? Does it get disallowed or is the ref overruled?

Who decides that a goal/potential goal is taken to the VR?

Is the VR only for goals? I think a VR for red cards and penalty decisions is needed just as much as a VR for goals.

This situation is very similar to what happens in rugby league in the top televised games. The ref checks on obstructions, knock-ons etc since the last play the ball and something could be sorted in football.....it's not for me to define the parameters...but it can be done.
I am only interested in helping the ref get it right.

I'd be interested to see how he'd go in one of the big leagues. I feel he's stagnating in the Eredivisie. I mean, where do you go after you've banged in 50-odd in a season?
