I wish they'd just get rid of the suspensions for yellow cards, especially now that they throw yellow cards for looking at the ref in the wrong way.
A yellow card is punishment enough for most offences, in fact for a lot of offences a yellow is way too harsh a punishment. But after committing one of these offences in a game they have to play with caution for the rest of the match. It's ludicrous that a player could pick up two ridiculous yellow cards for nothing fouls (or even worse for taking their shirt off after scoring a goal) and end up missing a match because of it.

Although i agree with you 100% about a booking for taking your shirt off, surley its up to the players to know whats comeing if they do, SELF CONTROL.

So once again Gerrard is stuck out on the left.
I reckon Gerrard and Milner will be given license to switch. Even on Saturday against Algeria Gerrard kept popping up all over (to no great affect however) the place.
Never mind footballers ego, Capello's relutence to change the main problems but to just drop Heskey to appease the media is what will be the end of him. Really starting to dislike this stubborn barsteward.

The reason this afternoon's game is poop or bust has far more to do with the player's not peforming than the team selection. Capello has always been like this nothing has changed in that respect.

Greece were so negative, cynical, attritional, boring that for the first time since 1986 I actually found myself hoping for an Argentina win. Messi on his own is worth watching on this form.

I don't think that Heskey has been left out to appease the media, I think the gobshites in the general public have been out in force blaming him for the ills of the team but most people know that he isn't the problem, and most things I have read acknowledge that he has been amongst the few players who have done what are asked of them.
The England team have looked bereft of confidence and imagination in the two games so far and with the "big man" up front has come an increasing tendency to hoof it up and hope he can win it/will chase after it. Defoe is a very limited player outside of the box and the hope is that we might pass the ball more, but it requires the likes of Rooney and Gerrard to find some form from somewhere to create the chances he is more likely to convert.
