No we won't, he's a right footed player shoehorned onto the left, and his best work for England has always involved cutting inside, he isn't going to stretch the play and hit the byeline.

That can work well with Ashley Cole going outside him (which is what should be happening with him playing behind Gerrard) but, unfortunately it takes Cole into the areas Lampard and Gerrard (and in the past Rooney) like to play in and exacerbates the problems with them.

I haven't seen much of Adam Johnson, but going from what has been said by people whose opinions I have time for, I can't see why we overlooked an in-form left footed left winger - we've been crying out for one for years.

Most of our players take home in ONE WEEK what it would take me to earn in FIVE YEARS,yet they can`t seem to do the basics of their job. I for one am getting sick and tired of these prima donnas.
last night looked like the players had just been introduced to each other, then decided to do their own thing.
Bloody appalling.

If Rooney is our talisman,we are stuffed.

We'll see a lot more width with Cole on the left than Gerrard.

TBH I would have thought that our two central defenders would have been able to cope with Algeria's extremely limited attack without having to have Barry bail them out on a number of occasions.

People falling back on the same old tired arguments when England's inevitable failings come home to roost. What has how much money the players are on got to do with anything?

Maybe the fact they should try earning some of it.

Question...Where was the safest place in the world to be on Friday night?

Answer.... Back of the Algerian's net.

The point I would make on money is in reference to the fact that those who have saved up and travelled out to watch the team were disrespected by one of the players who probably earns in one week more than most of them make in a year simply because some of them showed displeasure at the performance. I believe that was out of order!
