Jesus Christ Carragher. I think he was the slowest moving thing in South Africa then.

The thought of Carragher going up against any of the top strikers is a frightening one.

Is it time for Carragher to retire from international football?

I agree. As much as I love him, there are more suitable options available.

I'm not a big fan of Upson, but I find it strange that he's been overtaken in the reckoning by Carragher, I think Dawson has probably been in the best recent form of the contenders, but there isn't much pace there either.

Carragher and Terry together is an accident waiting to happen for me, even in this game.

In my opinion, neither player can play to the required standard in a 4-4-2. As they've 'matured', they've been groomed into total attacking midfielders, second strikers if you will, but either way it's a position that doesn't need discipline and industry, but a position where freedom to roam is needed. It was clear that's where they'd end up years back, but it seems that managers are just expecting them to pull something out of the hat for international football. The thought of Carrick doesn't sound too bad now, to be honest, at least he'd hold his position well.

When Barry gets back (unbelievable that I can see us relying on Gareth Barry), it'll be interesting to see where he puts Gerrard as he clearly fancies Lampard centrally.
