If Chev makes it back this season it'll be a fantastic achievment, if he doesnt and we offer him a conditional contract I think that would be the right thing for all parties.

Chev was playing some of his best rugby when he pushed upto the front row and second row and he was maturing into those positions, then came his break and that will obviously set him back a good 6-12mths. For Chevs sake I hope either us or another SL club take a punt on him and try and get him back to SL form. I am pretty sure he will do because he puts everything into training and loves the game.

Realistically, even when Chev is declared fit it is going to take 3 or 4 Reserve games to get his confidence back and match fitness up to Super League level. This will probably leave him 3 or 4 regular season games and our play off campaign to earn himself a new contract. Will be difficult for him but given his determination in returning from this injury i wouldnt rule it out. Will be on much reduced terms though i would have thought regardless of the form he shows.

I don't think he would have any arguments there. Think he will struggle to get any type of deal on the table given his track record regards injury.

As you say, you never know - and for that reason, he'll get a SL deal for next year, even if it is regarded as something of a gamble (which'll be reflected in his price). When you look at the OOC players at other clubs (or at least the realistic targets), our own look fairly attractive, so I wouldn't be at all upset if it was with us.

Of course he may end up in the championship, one day. But at 28 he'll either make it back as a SL player or struggle to play at all. I hope and expect it'll be the former.
