Does that mean that England fans have a chip on their shoulder about Scotland then, 'cause all english sports fan i know still want Scotland to fail. So why is that? Or we just going to come out with 'well they started it'? Again, it's just sporting rivalry.

There's no doubt England have had a bigger dent on world sport than Scotland, but England are still not as good as they make themselves out to be in that world of sport and Scotland still has produced some good sportsmen and women. In a country less than a tenth the size (population wise) than England as well let's not forget.

The post above is quite happily what i expect from English folk as banter, yet posting it still show you care enough about little Scotland to get a debate going.

I just dont understand the hatred from the Scots towards us. I went into a pub in Scotland and once everyone realised i wasn't a local i got some funny looks (It was a decent pub too, not a local dive). But i suppose thats the way its going to be. It wont stop me from cheering on the Gers, some of the smaller teams from Ireland in the Champs League or Scotland/Wales/Eire/N Ireland in the Euros & WC.

I couldn't think of a better one. There wasn't a problem, it was because i wasn't local. My Aunty & Uncle get it and they're a visitor to the same pub atleast once a year!

As a kid I always supported the other home countries when they weren't playing England. That changed in October 1973 when Poland knocked England out of the World Cup. It was my first term at uni, watched the game in the halls of residence along with about 200 students of mixed nationalities. I just couldnt believe the sheer joy of the non English students, particularly the Welsh, when Poland scored and at the final whistle. It really was as if their country had won the World Cup.

I've always supported teams playing the home countries ever since. The 1978 world cup was particularly enjoyable despite England's absence.

Not sure it does any harm though.

I think you should try and find a North Korean flag and hang it out of your window and show them the support they will need during the World Cup.
