Amazing scoreline, but looking at the game summary it's even more amazing, fourteen different try scorers for Blackpool and not one hat-trick. Really shared the tries around. Also, the make up of the 132 points was 22 converted tries, a great effort by the Blackpool goal kicker. How many records does this break? Highest number of points for one team in a British league game? (I assume there has been higher scorelines in the Challenge Cup). Highest number of successful conversions in a game? You would have to go some to beat 22/22.

I was at the game today, and it WAS pretty amazing. Blackpool were scoring off virtually every move in the early part of the second half, 28 points in 13 second half minutes. They'd often beaten the Gateshead line by the halfway line and for one of the tries there were 4 Blackpool players and none from Gateshead within 40 metres!! You have to credit the Gateshead lads for not throwing in the towel, though. As for records, the 22 goals equalled the world record for kicks in a game but the score fell 10 short of Huddersfield's 142 - 4 win against (strangely) Blackpool Gladiators (as they were then). Grrr.

Yeah, 4 suspended and 3 injured apparently. Another strange but wonderful fact for any saddos out there is that two of the players were called Barron and the other two were called Brown!! Reading the disciplinary reports in today's League Express, there were four Gateshead players banned and only one from Rochdale (the other team involved in the incident). I wasn't at the match, so can't really comment on the brawl, but it seems a bit unfair to ban four from one side and one from the other.
