Exactly. Down at York we average in the reason of 2k-2.5k for the season. We have sold 8k for the play off final, last year we sold about 15k for the FA Trophy final i believe. In York's case these extra hangers on have been a life saver as that day out at Wembley last season has essentially funded this seasons squad. It's maybe not such a big deal financially for a PL club but it's still a special occasion that reignites the interest of some part time fans.

Thing with Thommo is he knows he's biased, he admits he's biased and he will defend Liverpool to the death, regardless of what people think. Most other pundits try to show a bit of balance, they try and act as though they are neutral, but they have so much bitterness towards some clubs, it's obvious. Le Tosser is probably the smuggest barsteward on Soccer Saturday. I hate him!

Surely just because you know you're doing something it doesn't make it OK?
I might try that one if I get pulled over by the Police...."You can't fine me officer, I was doing 70mph in a 40 zone but I knew I was doing it..."
Seriosuly though Phil Thompson is the worst for it. I don't think Hansen and Lawro are too bad, they tend to tell it how it is. They get a lot more respect from oppo. Kinda agree with your Le Tis comment, he is a smug bugger. What did he win again?

Le Tissier. The only player ever to gain weight on the field.
I think we should tell United we'll accept £15m - half of the insurance money that they'd be getting when they took Berbatov round the back and shot him.
TBH I think it's a smart move from United. Anelka would be about 10,000 times better than Berbatov. £8m is a bargain for Anelka because he only has a year left on his contract and would easily pay back the transfer fee in 3 or 4 years of service.
Think a lot depends on whether we are going after a one of the strikers we're supposedly after. If we are bringing in another striker then I don't think Anelka will accept an even more subservient role. If we aren't after someone I think we'll re-sign him, although a move to United and playing for all the top 4 in his career would be a first, wouldn't it?

Can't see an iota of truth in that TBH. Don't Man Utd have a policy of not offering more than a year to players already over 30? Can't see them either spending £8m on a player on a 1-year deal or breaking that structure for him when they didn't for Giggs IIRC.
Wouldn't be surprised to see them go after Benzema again personally.

It seems that Sky encourage Thommo's bias, he isn't breaking any laws by doing it. Le Tissier is biased towards Southampton, Stelling is biased towards Hartlepool, Thommo is biased towards Liverpool. He never commentates Liverpool games unless it's something like the Liverpool vs Arsenal game in Europe a few years back (as far as I know), but they'll ask for his views knowing he'll be biased towards Liverpool. Le Tissier, though, always makes those smug, stirring little comments that are said innocently, but you know he's just stirring.
I loved it when Thommo burst out laughing about Moyes' comments saying Everton are just as attractive an investment as Liverpool, or words to those effect.

Won't happen. They'll sign a much better, younger striker.

Better than his reaction to Liverpool conceding a last minute penalty which Paul Merson described flying into the back of the net? Now that was funny
