Chelsea then made the step up for the likes of Drogba and Sheva, which is exactly what Man City will attempt to do this summer. Whom they bring in is anybody's guess but they will be top, top quality players. If the likes of Torres, Villa or Benzema become available you can bet your life Man City will be sniffing around!!
But sniffing around isn't getting.
We were able to get even better quality players because we were second in the Premier League and reached the semi finals of the Champions League. We also then went and got a Champions League winning manager who added even more clout.
You're expecting Citeh to do the same thing just on the strength of qualifying for the CL?
Quote:No disrespect but I don't see them fighting to go to Chelsea either
IIRC Kaka was very, very close to accepting their offer
We've had the enquiries about the Kaka's, the Ronaldinho's and players of that type. We got nowhere. Man United have had similar problems bringing in the absolute top players. But you think that Citeh are going to be able to make those signings.
Our signing of Sheva was one of the biggest wastes of money we've ever made. He was too old, too slow and never going to be what we needed. We'd have been far better off if we'd never got him. But you're going to get lucky when you make your massive signings?
And Kaka being very, very close to signings is still Kaka not signing.
Quote:You mean like Liverpool?? Finished 2nd last year after pushing all the way, have been to 2 Champions league finals and 2 other champions league semi finals in the last 5 years?? It can all go very wrong, very quickly!! Why is a player of Cesc Fabregas's undoubted quality still hanging around the Emirates when it is clear Barcelona or Real would snap him up tomorrow, when Arsenal have not won anything for 4 years??
I never mentioned Liverpool as being more of a draw than Citeh, I said Chelsea and Manchester United.
Fabregas has stayed at Arsenal because he's never been the subject of a serious bid from Real or Barca. And there's also been the belief that Arsenal were building towards their bright future. Their bright future has proven to be a lie, so Fabregas's ties to Arsenal are probably at their weakest. It's just a question of whether Real/Barca think he's worth the massive amount he'd cost.
It's difficult to keep track of the Citeh fans. They only seem to come on here when things are going good. Has anybody heard anything from any of them since the United defeat?
Quote:Chelsea are undoubtably a far better team then Liverpool this season, but was it the same last season?? and will it be the same next?? Chelsea may have won the odd premier league title and are certainly a big side right now. I just wonder what will happen once Roman gets bored
I felt Chelsea were a better side than Liverpool last season. It was just the error of appointing Scolari that meant they finished higher than us in the league. But we knocked them out of the CL, should have reached our second CL final in a row and won the FA Cup.
Quote:Liverpool will ALWAYS be a bigger club than Chelsea
Maybe you will. Maybe you won't. Bigness is not something I'm particularly bothered about.

only thing you have over
us is money. With that, the rest will come back to Anfield
Things we have over you.
1. We have two Premier League titles (probably three on Sunday). You have none.
2. We have a far better squad than you.
3. We have a better location than you.
4. We're never killed anyone.
Only a thief would choose to go to Liverpool over Chelsea. That's why Glenn Johnson chose to go to Liverpool rather than come back to Chelsea - he wanted to be in with his type. Bet he thinks he made the right choice, eh?
