I was "nilled" was I? How do you work that one out Tarbuck? Presumably your tiny scouse brain thinks that because I'm on this forum I must be a Hull KR supporter? Does that mean you are too, gormclops? You're wrong pal. My lot also got beat this weekend, but they've stuffed your lot good and proper already this season .

We have been lucky in that we got a group of about seven quality players in our 2008 academy team who were all promoted last season and had their debuts last season, so they have been able to step in reasonably well this season when we have yet again been battered with injuries (Foster, Armstrong, Dixon and Ashurst were from that group and were playing tonight). Eastmond. Moore and Wheeler were from an earlier group and I think only two have been promoted from last season's group (a halfback and a centre). But it was the 2008 academy team that garnished us with a useful looking number of young players for this season.
I think a couple of our previous coaches looked to the NRL when injuries hit but Saints have changed tack in recent years, for a number of reasons. I think it pays off.
Saints, Leeds and Hull FC have always had the best youth production lines IMO, but were a few years off that standard yet, it takes time to get the top youngsters coming through like the mentioned clubs have because when a top youngster shows up everyone wants him obviously, hopefully over the next couple of seasons we might start to see a few more home grown kids coming through the ranks.

I did feel for you yesterday. Having watched us start the season getting thumped by all and sundry (including yourselves) I know what a long afternoon it can feel like.
But to be positive, lots of Quins fans were calling for the head of our coach and predicting gloom and doom. Then a couple of key players come back, something clicks, and we're winning again. I'm not saying we were brilliant against FC, but there were definitely flashes of the old magic. So keep the faith, these things can turn around.
A much bigger positive were the Rovers fans we met in the pub afterwards. Still up for a good laugh after watching their team get a hiding. Real credit to themselves and the club. Wish you all the best for the rest of the season.

oooh miss jones, theres only one superleague team to shout for and that is THE SAINTS.
As usual I leave it overnight before posting. It was painfull to watch but a master class from Leon Pryce A great saints performance well done to them espescially the defence Rovers were lucky to get nill. It hurts but hey I am still alive no one is hurt & we will have another chance. Lets not panic but instead take the next two weeks to rest & re group. Give the boys a chance to make amends. Lucky for me I am away in Egypt for two weeks rest in the sun I will be ready for the rest of the season when I get back. Any posatives for Justin to take? at least I dont think his house has been burgled while he was away. Anyway I am a rovers supporter & Iam stuck with it. I will still be watching when this lot are long gone(health permitting) I am in it for the long haul but would like this lot to learn & improve.

OK Tarbuck, like your history do you? A bit selective with it though, aren't we? Still smarting after we stuffed you at your dump? If you like history, I'll get some of my colleagues (Leeds supporters) to post you a few reminders about recent Grand Finals! You scousers, are all stand up comics aren't you. "Don't go melting" ....... laugh, I thought I'd never start. More like Stan Boardman's level that one, or that lard @rse Johnny Vegas

Not in years to come you understand. I mean NOW.
In years to come with a conveyor belt of young talent in full production, with previous years kids now established as first teamers, the club better established in Super League, with the (necessarily) overpaid players of the early years long gone........yes then we can go further.
TBH Hull FC have all that in place NOW, have nearly double our gates and yet still they are struggling.
So can we go further right now simply by changing the coach? With our youth policy still only showing green shoots, with the ground improvements still incomplete, with the club still spending more than it earns? With the break even figure of 10,000 still a distant dream?
Do you think the way to go forward is a new coach? A coach who is probably the 2nd or 3rd most successful we have had in our history.
The big picture is a large canvass. I ask you to step back and look at it.
Point taken about the big picture, and I wasn't just assuming that a new coach could come in and transform HKR into champions or whatever. My point was more that Morgan, in my personal opinion as an outsider (I'm not a HKR fan), is a limited coach whose reputation has been based on a couple of good cup runs, and that a new coach might simply be a way of stopping the club's seemingly reverse momentum, at least in the short term. I bow to your superior in-depth knowledge of the club's shortcomings, though.

I would agree it takes time and it will be great for HKR and internationally once your own club's hard work begins to bear fruit.
I think in recent years we have been forced to look to our young players more and more due to the salary cap and also our stadium plans. Spending big bucks on Aussies and the like doesn't do much for the bank balance and also doesn't do much for the international scene. Our present Chairman is a local lad and he has stated quite openly that he would love to see the side full of not only British lads but local lads, which I suppose is the dream of most clubs - or their fans, at least. When players are home grown or have grown up in the sport through the club's ranks then that gives an extra boost to the support and also from the players to their performance.
Success is not final; failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. (Winston Churchill)
