Don't know where those properties come from Kev, I use a 70-300mm.
Thanks for the comments DT,can highly recommend the camera, I had a second hand 300d up until last year when it packed up, I kept it in the hope I may be able to get it repaired, I looked for a 40d but ended up getting a great deal on a 50d and an interest free credit card
The difference between my two cameras is amazing, shutter speed is so fast on the 50d, sounds like a machine gun!! Ideal for shooting rugby.
As for your daughter and her compact, it's great she wants to take photos, my daughter is actually doing A Level photography and loves it.
