It's amazing, mention 'Wigan' and 'Salary Cap' in the same sentence and you get flooded with Pies who come out with all kinds of different stories.
Most entertaining. Always worth a throw when the forums are quiet.

I really do doubt we are under the cap. The players we signed when ML and DW were in charge, have indeed been given new contracts. no doubt some have taken wage cuts etc. Since IL took over we've signed players on very little, recovering from the "ML and DW era".
If you going to question the salary cap? surely warrington are favourites to be over? They've signed so many players in the past two years, and still look to sign every other player that comes available. Tell me straight how you could possible have:
King, Solomona, Hicks, Monaghan, Morley, Briers, Atkins.. the list goes on. Top class players who cant be cheap? you could even count Mathers, Westwood, Carvell, the anderson brothers, hell i bet micky higham isnt on peanuts.

Its a live cap, so therefore Wigan cant be over it.
Now toddle off back to your little old ground and get over it.
at least it is our ground not rented from a Bloke who owns a football team
as for the "live" cap what happens if towards the last quarter of the season 3 or 4 clubs find they have spent all their money for that year and can not pay the players anymore? Do they :- A) play for nothing B) play the kids C) ignore the cap and say the players have deferred their salaries until next year D) continue paying the relatives for admin jobs.

A) We tried that already, hence we got done for thinking about it. Some Wigan players were asked to defer pay until the next year. Of course that means that Wigan would have to take that pay into account on that years cap. So therefore they would not breach it. B) We tried that already, we bring more through than pretty much anyone. C) See A above. D) That allegation is totally unfounded. Before you spout such rubbish, lets see your source.
