MUTLEY CAT wrote:in HBKs farewell speech I got the impression he was pi@@ed off with the fact that flair went back on his word

This is what HBK said in an interview recently.

Quote:He did call me. He called me once to let me know he was going to do the [Hulk] Hogan match in Australia. He wanted to know if it was OK and I of course told him that it was. Then he called me again when he was going to sign with TNA and asked the same thing. There's nothing you can say. I certainly don't have what it takes to look at somebody and say, Don't go make a living.

I told him that, for me, nothing can take away that special moment. It will still always be to me that I had Ric Flair's last match. I tried to do the best job I could for him. I think it was a special moment. Anything after that [pauses]. I feel for him, but I'm certainly not angry or disappointed or anything.

I would like to think that Ric probably would have liked that to have been his last match, too. The fact that it couldn't be, I understand. Those are circumstances that I certainly can't control. One of the things you have to understand is that if you're going to be a friend of Ric's, you sort of know that there's some baggage that comes along with that. Certainly the older I get the more I'm learning about conditional situations, and the difference between that and unconditional, unconditional friendship, unconditional love.

All those types of things we can talk about but it's a whole other thing to put them into action. I do my best to put them into action. I want what's best for Ric, even if Ric might not always be aware of what that is, I still want that for him. Nothing will take away from that moment. It's still truly special. I still wear my watch every day, so it's still something I'm really proud of. [Note: Michaels had matching diamond Rolex watches made for he and Flair to commemorate their match.]

Never been HBK's biggest fan but he sure knows how to make a good match. Also the farewell speech was quite emotional.

As a person, he's been a bit of a git, but as an in ring talent, I don't think there's been anyone to touch him for the last 20 years. He could have a fantastic match with just about anyone.

Leeds Rhinos? 8 for you, Leeds Rhinos! You go, Leeds Rhinos.

And none for Castleford Tigers. Bye!

And he'd be the first in line to admit it. That was pretty much a large part of his farewell speech. It was a genuine heart felt goodbye from a guy who I've loved to watch since I was a kid. Very probably the greatest of all time

When you're a Bradford fan there's always a light at the end of the tunnel.

Unfortunately it's usually an oncoming train

I've just watched it on touyube, and it was a great farewell. As you say, he admits his wrongdoings and acknowledges those who helped him. A great farewell.

18-0 but at what cost to the wrestling business?

Mr Wrestlemania is one of his nicknames and it couldn't be more appropriate. Razor, Bret, Jericho, Angle, Flair, Cena, Taker all had classics with him at the biggest event.

Thinking back, there honestly hasn't been anyone better.

Thing is though mate I get the impression that it will have been HBK's wish as well as anyone else's for the match to be set out the way it was - he's been quoted in at least one interview as saying that he's wanted to retire for the last 3 years now but Vince has kept persuading him to carry on.

Not seen the speech yet, but in all honesty (and this isn't a go at Michaels), I can't help but find it hard to believe that this will be his last ever match, only because it's so rare in wrestling for a guy's first retirement match to be his actual one.

Like I said though that's nothing against him, and he comes across really well in that interview re Flair (who I've lost a lot of respect for - stop bleeding every f'ing minute for a start! :x lol).

Oh, and don't think will ever be watching the Hart v McMahon match again, whoever booked it that way (e.g. stacking the odds against a natural heel) wants shooting.

"The Mail understands..." NOTHING! :SUBMISSION:

The Undertakers appearance just reeked of class.

I worded it wrong - I wasn't suggesting that WWE had a choice in the matter. I was just highlighting that although its great the streak continues, Michaels leaving will leave a huge hole that no-one as yet has the ability to fill.
