Fresh Prince of Chesh-air wrote:The European places have been 'explained' by the FA....clear as mud

As a result of Manchester United's Carling Cup win, sixth place in the Premier League is now a Europa League spot.

And depending on events in the FA Cup, seventh place could also be good enough to secure European football.

But with the semi-finals not yet played and three of the teams involved in the last four also fighting at the top of the league, there are a sizeable number of different permutations.

The FA have confirmed the below:

* If the winner of the the FA Cup qualifies for the Champions League, the domestic cup runner-up qualifies for the Europa League.
* Should both the winner and the runner-up of the domestic cup qualify for the Champions League, the domestic cup Europa League place would revert to the League
* If the FA Cup winners have already qualified for the Europa League via the league, the Europa League position reserved for the domestic cup winner would revert to the League.

I dont see whats hard to understand about all that. Its clear as day :s

Don't remember saying it was hard to understand.

Just that there were lots of if's, but's and maybe's.

Bayern vs Utd tonight. Will take a draw then hopefully go through at OT. Am worried it is all set up for a Leverkusen style cock up in the semis vs Bordeaux.

Anyone know why Bordeaux are 3/1 to win at Lyon tonight? Top of the french league, unbeaten in europe and won there 1-0 in the league.

Is it? Is there permutations? Yes! Therefore, its not clear then is it?

There is a difference between things being clear and being unable to understand as I think that's the angle you're going for? Although I'm not sure even you know?

Bayern are without Robben, aren't they? If so, that's massive for United. I don't think Bayern have much chance anyway but if they had a hope, it lay with Robben IMO.

You should overwhelm them in midfield and it's hard to see them keeping you at bay for 90 minutes.

Basically, Chelsea will batter Villa again, Spurs will beat Pompey...as Chelsea are CL, and Spurs are as good as in the Europa at worst, then 7th looks good for a Europa spot.

Which is good as Villa are in freefall again and Everton's run-in is kind.

There are a lot of if buts and maybes left in the season, so that's going to happen. Better for them to spell it out now than later.
