this thread comes around every derby game now, i reckon your allocation will sell out this time round because of your previous results, team performances and recruitment. after very little success in the derby games of late, confidence must be better. i know 6 of my b&w pals who never attended last year are going this year!

I do investment appraisal for a living, sunshine. Attitude doesn't come into it. You need to look at payback. If Rovers were out of capacity at CP, even allowing for the south stand being empty, the business case for expansion and ground improvements would become more compelling. The facts are that, apart from the Olly Murs inspired Salford attendance, gates are down by 1,000 compared to the same fixtures last year, which might make funding more difficult to justify.

if your theory were true, the kc would never have been built. you only have to look at the attendance of hull fc and hull city with the better facilities provided! the north and south of craven park need developing and i'm sure they will be!

Not very good then. Ever thought rovers dont fill the ground because its crap! put a nice undercover stand with facilities there and hey presto.

The KC was built with windfall money though and under normal circumstances can't imagine it would ever have been built. Financially, if you looked at the return both clubs have made in the context of £42m or whatever it cost, it wouldn't look like a sound business decision.

That's not proven though, is it? Despite a superb season on the pitch last year your gates are down by an average 1,000 on the same fixtures last year, which doesn't suggest that an extended/improved ground would automatically sell out. There is something to be said for cab man's "build it and they will come" stance, but in the current environment, cash for investment is scarce and investors are risk-averse and may choose alternatives with better returns (which may be a combination of financial and non-financial).

If rovers are so adamant that they need further ground investment in order to move on,then it should not be HCC that should be doing it.As a council tax payer i would not be to happy having my money lent to a club that is,at the end of the day just a privately run company. The fact that this company has never shown any kind of profit(and i'm not trolling here) must be a prohibative factor. If rovers do need investment in their ground then it should be put in by the people who they rent the ground from, afterall it is their asset and if the crowds do come in larger numbers then it is they who will benefit.
