So does that we mean we have to credit the coach with a smart change of tactics or the players for finally doing what they were told by the coach?

Is Broughton really that fast though? He had clear ground ahead on Sunday and never looked like scoring. I agree about kicking early though. Quins full back wasn't dropping back until the 3rd tackle most of the time. We struggled to get out in the first half and a decent kick early would have helped.

Good question - Whilst I'm not a fan of Mr McRae, I don't subscribe to the general point of view on here that any loss is his fault and any win is despite of him - let's hope it's a bit of both and that it may continue!!

What about a third option of them ignoring the tactics and not doing what they were told by the coach?

Even if we didnt collect the ball, we will have gained many yards upfield, which our forwards seem unable to do .

Last time I remember seeing that Tactic Frank Cassidy was at Stand off Half in Swinton Derby match.
Danny Brough tried it on us last season.
Smacks of 'Rugby' and I doubt McCrae would allow such radical thinking involving such intuition & skill.

Smacks of Rugby Union. It's not radical and nor does it involve intuition or skill.

It's rarely used in SL because it's not particularly effective.

Best used as a desperation measure when losing narrowly late in a game.

Otherwise I'd be happy if we never did it, let alone using it as a regular option.

 Love him or hate him, 163 consecutive appearances should make Stuart Littler a Salford legend in anyone's book
