The panel said it took into consideration Senior's previous good record during a lengthy career, his admission of guilt and public apology, but felt a fine was appropriate given that it was a personal attack on the referee's character, rather than a criticism of a decision by the referee.
He'll know what to restrict his comments to next time then.
And while on the subject of referee appointments the YEP ask:
As the Super League referees are all professional, they should, in theory, be of an equal standard and, therefore, it shouldn't make any difference who takes charge of which game. So why not have a draw every Monday to decide the following weekend's appointments?
What makes anyone think Cummings has a different system in place.
I think a weekly random draw would be problematic as it could cause all sorts of issues in terms of ref's getting the same side again over several weeks and also lets say, one of them travelling back and forth to France for a few weeks on the trot. However, I quite like the idea of Cummings putting together a 'rota' so that he decides and publishes the ref appointments for the whole of the following month, rather than on a week by week basis! Obviously, he should be allowed to change them if sickness of personal circumstances mean a change, but in most cases it should remain unchanged?
Change is inevitable ...except from a vending machine!

No, no, no, no. That would give all our opponents far too much time to prepare a dossier to go through with the ref the week before they play us.

I like the way it has now become a 'dossier' rather than just a video!
