I dont know why some people expect us to win the league with the the smallest playing budget in the league.
Also, I heard so many people on the stands last night , saying the players were not fit to wear the shirt etc etc......maybe they are trying 100%, but are just not good enough? In which case.......no matter how hard we try....we battling a losing cause...and bringing in a new coach would not help if the players just dont have the quality
I'd actually agree with most of that. Although I do feel we'd be better off without Mr McRae. An expensive commodity with the maximum potential of this group of players who I'm sure are genuinely trying hard. With the best will in the world, you can't turn a donkey into a thoroughbred. However, he did sign them and with that in mind, he loses my vote. It appears that we are playing 'percentage' rugby league. A style of play that requires strong and dominant forwards. Well, there lies the problem. WE DON'T HAVE STRONG AND DOMINANT FORWARDS. We regulary struggle to make yards when in our own half, (Around 25m over 5 tackles would be my estimation) and thus are reliant on long kicks up field from Dan Holdsworth. And another frailty of our style of play is the lack of line speed in defence. We appear to be a fraction of a second slower at moving up at the opposition play the ball although this may be a result of being consumately out-muscled in most collisions.
So, maybe it's a case of players struggling to match the tactical style of the coach who with a limited budget, recruited poorly for the style of play he wanted.
As for the morons, who I have regularly berated of late, I put it to them that it is they who do not deserve to wear the shirt. My word I wish they'd increase the practice of sterilisation on the NHS.
So, as for Shaun McRae being the "worst" coach we've had? Well, most probably not but certainly not the required standard for the players at his disposal... Oh how hard it must be to be a head coach on a limited budget.
