WIGAN have 5 captains do they not Goroka?? WIth 1 nominated as the on field captain for the each game. It is a well used practice in NRL by all acounts and something the new coach has implemented there.

yes i did but couldnt resist getting goraka going as his/her knowledge of rugby is 2nd to none with all inter changes these days wigan have got it right and its just another part of aussie ideas being used here

As for the 'over-rated' O'Loughln. The official tackle count was 48! Just remind me again how many players in SL get through this amount of work during a game? "Over-rated"??? You couldn't make it up!

Only the captain can approach the referee to ask for clarification on things, if you've got three of your five captains on the park at any one time, how does the referee know who's the relevant one? Can't they all just go up to him and start haranging him?

No, it's effectively a 'leadership team' of senior professionals but only 1 is nominated as captain for each game and leads the team out,speaks to the ref etc. The '5 captains' label is a bit of a misnomer really. I'm fairly sure the club has never referred to it as such, but the media obviously liked it as an attention grabbing headline, wherafter it stuck!
