A few people have been knocking Vella' performance, it was a very heavy pitch on Sunday im sure as the ground firms up we'll see more from him.
I'd like to see Vella play more games in th second row this season, I think when hes played there before hes been very effective.

In some respects, I agree - but we have a lot of quality to squeeze into the back row and there is a perception that we are light up front. Hence the eagerness for Clinton to arrive.

It would leave us with a very young looking set battling for front row spots in Wheeldon, Lovegrove, Watts but IF we do get Clinon to add the experience I think it would be a good move to give Vella a run in the back row.

Easy to get carried away after one game, but the balance looked right to me. Very impressed with the way the forwards dominated, especially in conditions which suited the bigger Salford pack. We seemed to win the collisions all afternoon.
Cookes higher involvement was due to Galea not being there IMO & it worked well. We’ve had too many pivots in the last couple of years. Could we see Benny having to settle for a place on the bench when he returns?

Maybe. I certainly feel the Cooke at loose man is worth an extended run, with Jake (or Galea) at stand off.

I would certainly agree that Cooke was able to exert his presence on the game due in part to Galeas absence. Personally i would like to see Galea staying in the second row looking after the left hand side of the field and running off Cooke.

Not heard any knocking of Vella's performance but I think Morgs is just easing him back into things nicely, no rush yet and I'm looking forward to seeing a match fit Vella very soon.
I don't see it as a job. It is a passion and love that we all share. Neil Hudgell
