Sorry no link as yet but it is in the paper. Says Rovers may need to release a player. Wasn't this speculated about previously ?
The most likely reason imo.

Pity we couldn't get rid of Mills during last years cap. I suppose we were a bit naive in giving mediocre players long term deals when we first came up.

How can rovers be at full salary cap? I thought they enough to bring in someone last season if needed. international bonuses for briscoe and fox go on the cap i believe but surely they aren't that much?

Think there have been some contract upgrades. And the boost from international status can be quite significant.
The SC story would explain things neatly and fits with the available information, including the club line that Clinton hasn't signed yet. Technically he hasn't signed until the RFL approve his contract, regardless of whether a contract has been agreed between him and the club.
Odd that this wasn't sorted out sooner though. Maybe a player has dug their heels in regarding a move?

I'm struggling to comprehend how it cap be a salary cap issue? I'm sure someone from over the river can add the finite salary details, but we released the following last year:
Fitzhenry Fozzard Aizue Gene Esders
And replaced them with (so far):
Ratu Cook Hodgson.
Surely that has freed up >100K on the cap? Maybe the £150k salary Clinton was getting at the Bronco's is what we are having to stump up to get him to come over?

TBF, she's not who I had in mind. Her line tends to be fact-based (albeit fact bordering on tedium! ). There are many others who claim to know exactly how much every squad member earns, and know doubt what flavour of crisps they lean towards!

Thats £1 million quid freed up from last season. (source: FC fan who's auntie goes to bingo with the wife of the bloke who delivers to the stadium, who overheard someone talking about in the toilets)

Not forgetting Briscoe & Fox are now have international experience and that will have triggered contract upgrades for the pair, not sure what amounts we are talking about though.
