Looked forward to yesterdays game for ages and it ended on a downer really. The fans didnt get behind the team and the place makes Salford look like New York.
On the playing front Broughton, Holdsworth looked good, Fitzy also looked good and he did a great catch under the high ball. Fox scored a hatrick against us last year so youd think you wouldnt keep kicking the ball straight down is throat. The problem with us is while other sl clubs have improved, alot of our players havent, the effort was there though which is all you can ask for really

There were a coulpe of points that concerned me regarding the game yesterday. 1, The lack of times that anyone wanted to attack the line 2, Easy penalties that were given away. 3, The Tyrer - Broughton wing, it was too easy at times for Fox. glad we wasnt playing Leeds. 4, Kicking game? But i supposed yesterday was the first game and we cannot expect too much this season. Maybe bring littler back (eh shirl )

We got beat by a better team on the opening day of the season, simple really. We did have a couple of nice moves, the try we scored obviously being one of them and we also made some poor, quite frustrating errors in defence. I can't say I ever expected us to go over there and win, although we could have had a couple more tries and made it a bit closer were it not for an unlucky bounce that took away a try from McGilvray and a knock on that could have got Broughton our 2nd try in the first half.
Our kicking game was poor and contributed to the loss given that we were kicking to their wingers and full back at the end of every set. Our completion rate was probably actually quite good if you look at the stats but we rarely found touch or split the winger and full back so were giving them good field position at the start of every drive. Add to that the silly penalties and we were never going to win the game.
We're still not up to speed as of yet. Like last year though, we can only get better and I honestly think that while, again, we don't have strength in depth, we do have a better team this time round and can improve on last year if we can keep the majority of the team healthy. That's a big if though.

Also, just as an aside, did anyone who bought their tickets on the Hull KR website experience any problems at the gate when trying to get in?
I got there with my printed ticket to be told that the ticket I had was invalid and was sent to the ticket office. After queuing for about 10-15 minutes I was told to go back to the gate as the problem was now fixed. The ticket was scanned and yet again it said it was invalid and I was told to wait for a minute before they just gave up and let me me through anyway.
Bit of a farce really and I only hope that we don't have the same sort of problems next week with our season tickets.

They didn't scan our tickets they just took them off us at the gate and let us through the turnstile. Should've done a few photocopies.
As for the game, not a lot to shout about really. Would imagine we will find out where we are at on Friday night vs Crusaders.

They didnt scan ours either, 4 of us went up, 3 full adult price and 1 student / concession. They didnt even ask for a student card. Regret not getting 4 Concession tickets now at £12 each. Would of saved a few quid. Aw never mind, im not F*****g Mystic Meg.

The pitch looked worse than it played, it certainly never deteriorated during the game. For a poor pitch, watch the Leeds v Cas highlights!
GCSE results don't lie, see you can't even count they broadcast both of Fox's tries and the passes were not over the top but along a line which unless the lines on the pitch are not parallel (look that up) and being in Hull may not be, see GCSE results tables 2008, 2009, but the passes sent the balls in a forward direction ie they were closer to the try line when the ball was caught than when the ball was passed.

We had exactly the same problem with printed tickets at the Reebok this weekend - wonder if it's made by the same company (Teamcall IIRC)?

Love him or hate him, 163 consecutive appearances should make Stuart Littler a Salford legend in anyone's book
