Match day 'walk up' support would increase if people knew they could get in the covered areas of the ground with a better view and atmosphere and theres loads of families who wont go because they don't like been stuck in the temp north stand exposed to the elements and poorer view.

Despite what you say, the likes of yourselves, wigan and wire have all experienced decent increases in support after moving to new stadia. If a hull fan fancies going to a game every now and then, he'll almost certainly get a good seat even if he only decides to go 10 minutes before kick-off. With us, that fan would need a whole season pass to realistically guarantee a decent spot in the ground.

Jake the Peg wrote:HUll's crowds have gone up primarilly due to us having our best side in many years, having a competitive side in SL rather than one at the bottom (last 2 seasons excepted  ), a general increase in SL crowds and increased interest in the city due to rovers being in SL.

Hull have always had a bigger following than rovers and the current gap between the 2 % wise is where it has traditionally been when both sides were doing well. I doubt if having better facilities would suddenly gives your crowds a big boost. They would likely go up but you wouldn't be getting 1000's more at caravan park purely down to that.

You also have to remember that 6000 or so of the current fans you get had no interest in the club 4 years ago. I doubt there are many more who would want to go who don't because your ground isn't up to scratch

Hull FC

season position highest lowest

2000 7th 8143 4080

2001 3rd 7581 5620

2002 5th 8908 5303

As opposed to your loyal and faithful following as shown above.

Intersting that Rovers have never had a SL crowd as LOW as your lowest in these seasons and our highest has topped yours for the three seasons we have been in SL.

You gained an INSTANT following (sorry 'faithful') when you went to the KC.

All clubs are the same, in fact considering your 3rd place in 2001, I'd say your crowds were very poor.

at the end of the day, trying to improve what you have is not a bad thing is it? I cant remember seeing a statement from the club about 14,000 TBH but if thats the intention then great, wether more fans would come we dont know yet do we, but one things for sure, there certainly wont come if we dont expand.

you stand still you die,

Was something said at your forum tonight about you expecting 12,000 once the east stand is extended?

Will it even hold 12,000 with the east stand extension? Presume it will be open some time during the summer will it?

Capacity is 10,500 now, so would imagine the capacity is right. Although is the Golf Stand still in service? Had heard otherwise, but must be OK if they're after 12k this season.

Did they really say they "expect" 12000, I imagine they would have had to explain what superlative marketing has happened for Rovers to "expect" 12000 a 25% or thereabouts increase in crowds. Now that would be something really special, and I hope you're right, but I think that it's more likely that they said the capacity would be 12,000 not the expected crowd size.

If you were this curious, why didn't you listen?
This is not what was said. They mentioned 10k to break even, getting the North stand built and one day aspiring to getting crowds of 12k. I'm pretty sure that the 12k figure and 'expecting' were not used in close conjunction.

If the ground was improved it would increase corporate entertaining, increase pay on the day fans, be more attractive to bringing families to the ground and see an increased away support this would see an increase in both the gate and revenue streams.

The flip side would be fans wouldn't 'have' to buy a season pass to get in their preffered stand / ground. This would mean the playing product would need to stay at a high level to keep bringing in new and 'floating' support.

Does that help to take your mind off things ?

[quote="Kingston Rovers"]. . . . . I was saying that we're building the east stand extension to accomadate the fans we know will fill it then eventually build a south stand, finances permitting . . . . .[quote]

Many posters (across threads all over the board) write that an extended East Stand would be sold out thus increasing the average gates by the sum of the extra capacity. If this is the case, I cannot fathom why those fans who choose to stay at home because they cannot view from their prefered position stay away from the ground completely. You would expect that all these committed fans would simply relocate to another stand. I am not aware of pricing structures at CP but would assume that the cost of the north stand is comparable to that in the east stand so there would be no increased financial burden. The only annoyance I can see would be viewing from none prefered position.
