Oh come one, we all are allowed a little bit of banter now and again surely??
As an honest assesment on Rover's forwards:
Rhys - Solid driver, certainly was a stand out performer last season.
Vella - Leads from the front, give 100% all the time
Wheeldon - Solid workhorse, had a good year last year and can only improve
Clinton - Brings experience and I believe a fresh start for him here is going to be good for him. If he perform like Newton does then I see no reasons why this guy isn't going to be brilliant for us.
Netherton - A good player to have in a squad, can do the job when required and is very good in defence
Watts - A good prospect for us, certainly not short of size and can offload
Cook - Probably won't play Prop for us but will be good in the 2nd row. Solid performer, who again needs a chance to show us how good he is and will get that with us
Newton - Top, top performer last season and always runs very hard. Isn't shy of work and can hit the right lines to finish too
Galea - Linked up with Newton to great effect last year in the 2nd row and I feel we're going to have another good season from Benny this year as he will relish in the loose man role.
Now regarding Hull's, my rugby thinking head says that yes Fitzgibbon and O'Meley will bring some aggression to Hull's side, but my concern is that Fitzgibbon will drop off as the season kicks in because I think a lot of pressure is on him this year to perform. I think O'Meley will be a mixer, but I don't see him being a game changer. I still think Hull are carrying some deadwood in Moa, Radford and Cusack and I think that Luaki (don't know the correct spelling) from what I saw of him last season is nothing more than your average forward.
All in all, I don't see any glaring differences between the sides forwards, and I think Rovers' back line is superior to Hull's and therefore will result in Rovers finishing above Hull again this year and finishing at least 5th.
This is merely a sensible post, no banter intended.
