I was fairly happy with what I saw from the boys in their first "hit-out." It's pretty difficult to gauge how well/poorly we played when you take into account the opposition (were we playing Eccles

?) and the amount of substitutions made. I've got to admit I do like the look of of Houldsworth (not in that way

) he looks like he's got a bit of pace, a decent step and a good pair of hands. Tyrer had a decent game, a couple of good hand offs and was always looking to get involved. Learnt nothing new about the likes of Cashmere and Swain who I'm expecting big seasons from (especially as Cashmere is in my fantasy team). Gibson showed glimpses of his ability and his break for Smith's

try was quality. Broughton also looked like he had pace to burn although I'd have liked to have seen him take the full-back on the outside when he had that break in the 2nd half.
All in all a decent run out for the players and looks like we've managed to recruit well in the summer. It's nice to see we'll have some decent competition for places in the back line as well and with the versatility in the players recruited there should be plenty of options to change things round during games if needed. Let's hope we can push on with a decent result against Widnes and set ourselves up for a good start to the season.
Oh, one gripe from yesterday was the lack of draft Cider. Not only do they take Strongbow off tap and replace it with Blackthorn but then they don't even have that available. Poor show.
