United's current form is not down to the owners, it's down to the management and the players. Scouse fans need to realise that it's the same scenario with their club. Liverpool have one of the most expensive squads in the premier league and are under peforming. If some fans want to bury their head in the sand and blame the owners, good luck to them.
Lets see if your still saying that when your in a battle to finish 3rd.

Suppose I am being Naive when I see £38m being spent on 2 players - Johnson and Aquilani - and struggle to understand where the board is at fault. Did Benitez not want these players?

The real fun(not if you are a Lpool fan) will come in May with No champons league football 2010-2011 season. Then the vultures Man City/ Chelsea will be out to test the resolve of the owners on the sale of their prize assets. Gerard and torres.
It was the biggest fluke in history. Benitez is living off that win when its clear to everyone, bar the bin dippers that the guy is out of his depth in the premier league. Liverpool will be mid table fodder in a few years once Torres has left and Gerrard is too old.

Fella, Rafa is a world class manager, he has world class pedigree, he's won numerous honours and his record speaks for itself. There is no way that the man is out of his depth, if he was, then there are 16 other managers in the league who are out of their depth because he's easily in the top 4 managers in the league. We're having a bad season but that doesn't make a career.

As for Saddened. Honestly, stick to discussing the Xbox and the ice in Warrington, as you are so clearly out of your depth when it comes to footballing knowledge. Mascherano, a good squad player? That's why he'd walk into pretty much any team in world football. Glen Johnson a 2m player? Aquilani a 5m player? Oh dear oh dear, utterly clueless.
When fit and playing together, our first XI can compete with the majority of top sides in world football. It doesn't mean I think we're better, just that we are up there. Our squad depth is shocking, nobody will deny that, but just dismissing some absolutely fantastic players as poor and nothing players is pretty laughable, especially from a bluenose whose squad consists of poor, nothing players.
As for the board backing Rafa. I think our squad is the 5th most valuable in the league and I'm pretty sure we have the 5th highest wage bill. Unlike other clubs (United, Arsenal), we've not had the time to build from our academy, we've not had plenty of players through the academy like United have Giggs, Scholes, Neville, O'Shea, Fletcher and Evans, whereas we have Gerrard and Carragher. United have been able to spend big on players as squad players, as they've had plenty of places taken up by academy produced players, we're having to sign more players which means we're buying quantity not quality. It doesn't mean Rafa's transfer record is good, it's poor in many aspects but he has made some fantastic buys and missed out on some fantastic players to no fault of his own.

How dare you talk sense. Rafe decided that to turn a team that finished 2nd into title contenders that they should spend a whopping £18m on a right back. It's not his fault though.
In his defence, he has managed to turn a one man team into a two man team during his reign.
