I wonder if Hearn is really 100% up for the merger now he is running snooker.

Seems funny that the BDO said nothing for months and perhaps they have wind that the PDC are not as keen as they were to fully merge and are calling their bluff.

The PDC have said they would honour all existing BDO TV Contracts.

And PDC Darts is not shown exclusively on non-terrestrial channels. The Grand Slam is available on free-to-air channels.

I'd be interested to know what is written in the contract between the BDO and the BBC. If the Beeb have a contract to cover the World Championships and the event then ceases to exist, does that make the contract null and void meaning there is no contract for Hearn to honour?

Or could the directors of the BDO potentially find themselves in a legal tangle for breach of contract?

The BBC have the BDO World Championships till 2013. The contract was to finish after this years tournament, but the BBC extended it last September.

Not too sure what the contract is for the Winmau World Masters.

if the BDO no longer existed - then the BDO World Championships wouldnt be occuring, so there is nothing for the BBC to broadcast.

I would guess that they will come to some agreement whereby the BBC get highlights of the combined World Championships, and maybe a couple of Live sessions - for the duration of the BDO contract.

Feel sorry for Baxter, looks like he could be the whipping boy in the competition this year.

Right decision I would say though I thought Gary Anderson would get the gig.

How is that honoring existing contracts????

As has been stated back in November the PDC said they would honor existing contracts so you would think the BDO World Championships will run until at least 2013 (In what form is anyones guess).
