The club let us know Dobson wasn't happy with a headline which suggested he had said he would prove to be the best scrum-half in the city next season as he prepares to face Sean Long. The headline was poor, as the actual context of his quotes was that he hoped to come out on top at the end of the season. A genuine error by an over-excited sub-editor perhaps - so we apologised. Nothing more than that.

Correct. The club have to ask permission from the Compliance Commission before signing a new player or altering the contract of an existing player. The RFL will not register a player unless the Commission approves the deal as being within the cap rules.

That still does not prevent a club from working outside an officially sanctioned contract
