The right decision was made eventually, all parties should be happy, regardless of how it happened.

Exactly like they mentioned on MOTD why Steven Gerrard couldn't just have a quick word to the ref rather than everyone getting involved i don't know.

Im no fan of Liverpool, the premiership or any of that bollox but if it happend in any game up and down the country to any team everyone would do the same to ensure the correct decision was made. In the heat of the moment the liverpool player did nowt wrong, it's easy to think about it after but it was a major decision that had to be made, and i for one dont trust refs to make the right decision anyway...he didn't in the 1st place so who know what he would have come up with.

Well, if the referee can't get a simple thing correct like booking the right player mate, then the 4th official has every right to get involved to let the ref know that he's made a balls up.

Marriner is a crap referee anyway. God knows how he gets some of the big games that he's got recently. Must have something on Hackett.

Routine win for United despite Wiley's efforts(although should have sent Paddy off). How Fagan escaped a card is beyond me.

When fans of the self-styled "Big 4" talk like this, my p!ss boils. It really is disrespectful.

Then again, i've just remembered who their manager is.

Watching on HD showed his dandruff up in his pre-match chat. Har.

You've stolen my washing
From out my back garden
You've tarmacked my driveway
Even though I said no
You've nicked my lead flashing
And weighed it in at the scrappy
Oh St Helen's tatters
Come rob me again

I kind of agree thats disrespectful, and to be honest there are no routien wins for most teams in the premiership any more. But you kind of sound bitter, you don't feel hard done to do you?

Who do we think will be in and out of Eastlands in January, then?

I felt at the start of the season their full backs were weak and they still look pretty average. Maybe another centre half in and move Toure to right back? Or do they need proper full backs, i.e wing backs like your Maicons etc.?

It will be interesting to see what formation he decides on using during his time there, I didn't see the game on the weekend but I managed to see a bit of his Inter side in his last season and I rarely recall the use of wingers. Could we see a diamond being used, similar to that of Chelsea's, with Robinho playing the 'trequartista' role? In his Inter side, the full backs were the providers of width, no offence to Bridge, Richards and Zabaleta, but they're not your flying full backs with flashy technique, they're solid, workmanlike players who are solid squad players, but nothing more, at least for a side with aspirations.

I've not read too much about the Mancini situation, but is he seen as a long term investment, or is he simply a stop gap until the summer, where the window for managers will be much more open? I personally saw him as a stop gap, I think he could surprise a few people, but I can see him doing a similar job to that of Ramos at Madrid last year. He'll get things back on track, get a few much needed players in, attempt to lay some foundations but probably won't be the man who the club see taking them forward in the long term. I think he's an underrated coach, but I don't think he was City's number one target, nor do I believe that he was the ideal coach to take the club to where they want to be, but I'm no expert.

I cannot see him being a stop gap manager, because that would ultimately make appointing a top level manager even harder. Getting a top manager to take over at Citeh is going to be hard, but getting a top manager to take over when Citeh have utterly screwed Hughes AND Mancini would be impossible.

Even though I don't rate Hughes as a possible top manager, he was in line to achieve realistic targets for this season. The problem for Hughes was that Citeh seem to have gone mental and raised the targets to stupid levels. CL qualifying for this season and the title for next? They should just get "stupid" tattooed on their forehead, it'll be cheaper and less embarrassing.
