IMHO our beloved Lib Dumb council should use some of the money 'earmarked' for the KC expansion (for its pie in the sky plans) to redevelop and modernise Craven Park giving it the same focal point status in East Hull that the KC is in West Hull.
Only my opinion mind
You don't really think they had any money to expand the KC do you?
IMO rovers best chance of a council handout went with the world cup bid. If they'd found some cash to upgrade the KC it would have been difficult to turn down grudgell's begging pleas but now they can just plead poverty.
Public sector cash is going to be squeezed like never before and there's no chance of a handout from the public purse any more

Never said it would happen i said it should. We are supposed to be a top 10 city and we have 3 high profile professional sporting teams yet only 1 decent stadium. You're right in saying public sector cash will be squeezed over the coming years but there will still be public funds available for Capital projects, if the council has the will or expertise to get their hands on them.

Hull isn't a top 10 city for a start.
If funding were available then pearson would have the nouse to tap into it irrespective of any lack of expertise at the council

I agree Hull isn't a top 10 city, but we keep getting told that is the aspiration of the council. Pearson has his hands full keeping City afloat and he has no immediate need for any expansion of the KC now the WC bid has been blown away. That doesn't mean there are no Capital project funds available for other areas of the city in need of regeneration, areas Pearson isn't interested in.

Rome wasnt built in a day im sure over the comming years HKR will find a way to up grade there stadium ,ie the 300k there getting from NHS ,But it grinds me a bit to read from Rovers supporters that they didnt get any help from the city ,Rovers sold there old ground ,at a time for 4m which was suppose to build them a new modern staduim they got the site and ground for next to nothing off the council and the planning ,it was the then Rovers directors who decided it would be a good time to take there money and there loans out of the club which left them with next to nothing from the sale of the old craven park ,and thus the crap stadium they have today .But the point im making is Rovers did recieve massive help at the time from the council they got all the school land for next to nothing ,the rovers supporters at the time where told it was a great move would bring the club a modern staduim and clear any debts .they where hoodwinked and have been moaning ever since the KC was built ,but you had your chance back then to build a really modern up todate ground ,i know its not the rovers supporters fault but its not the rest of the citys either or the councils

Rovers also pay an absolutely pitiful rent on craven park which is a kind of handout from Hull CC. I know that the powers that be at HCC were a little miffed with Mr Hudgells comments in the national press a little while ago.

As far as iam aware hcc are not sole owners of cp so the rent will reflect that. It will also reflect the fact that rovers seem to pay for all upkeep of cp ie if rovers pitch needs replacing rovers pay for it. kc pitch needs replacing smc pay as hull pay rent to reflect this

I think the above is correct and iirc Rovers don't pay their rent directly to HCC in any case. It all makes BDT's assertion about the council being miffed at Hudgys comments complete bollox as they clearly are not is possession of all the facts
