Seem to remember David Lightfoot having about a season and a half of great rugby in him and then fading. Probably about the time he moved in with Bishop!
Dave Watson was class. As was Botica, and Niebling. THink Watson ended up at Halifax? you had great wingers as well in Sodje and Sullivan at the time. I actually watch rovers a lot in those days for my sins. Dave Bishop is still one of my all time fav players. When he played for wales, slated from the off by Stevo until he dislocated his finger, popped back in then played on. And well. Stevo changed tack rapidly, and loved him!

I don't know if he actually was but for some reason he always seemed as thick as pig poop, not that that makes any difference!

Yes, I think he did, had a little read about him earlier on, good article on The Indies website by Dave Hadfield written on the eve of the '98 cup final. I hadn't realised that after he'd been at Bradford and had a few, ahem, issues, ( ) he'd gone to Oz and played for Cronulla and maybe another couple of clubs then fecked up again, at which point his wife called Peter Fox (coaching legend, not England's best winger ) who told her that John Kear was looking for an off half at Sheffield, the rest as they say etc...
He'll be 41ish now, wonder what he's up to?

Does anyone remember a superb try at leeds he scored in a close game ,I think it was on tv on sunday night in the days when it was call b sky b on a squareiel :)

Jesus H Christ, what is it, reminiscence night on here, reminds me of many a group therapy session I've run!
Squariel's ! A mate of mine was once ecstatic to win one in a competition, with a month they went bust and turned off the signal, last time I was in my home village I'm pretty sure it was still rusting away on his old house 25 years or so later!

When I first started watching Rovers was when Everitt was nudging Fletch from the FB position. Didnt think this was in the last decade though, thought it was mid to late 90's. I also remember Lee Sibary having some good games for us, but for me It is between the two afore mentioned Cockayne and Briscoe, and for overall contribution in both NL and SL i'd have to edge towards Ben Cockayne.

Watson ended his career at Rochdale in about 2002/3 I think? The guy was still a great player to watch, even at the age of 35/36. I believe he is still in the country, living in the Birkenshaw area of Bradford (near Batley).
